Junior Board Applicant Information
Do you love the Georgia Dairy Industry? Have you learned valuable leadership skills from the Georgia Commercial Dairy Heifer Program? Are you ready to help Georgia’s dairy youth succeed?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, consider applying for the Georgia Dairy Youth Foundation Junior Board of Directors! The junior board gives members the opportunity to get involved with GDYF members, promote GDYF activities and participate in dairy advocacy across the state.
Meetings of the junior board are held three times a year in conjunction with state shows and the Southeast Dairy Youth Retreat. Junior directors have the opportunity to represent the junior board at shows and at the GDYF golf tournament, annual meeting and commercial dairy heifer workshops.
Students in grades 8 through 11th grade are eligible. Interested youth should fill out the interest form when it opens in October. GDYF will mail applications to interested students in January of each year. Once we receive all required application information, selected youth will be interviewed at the UGA Dairy Science Club Commercial Dairy Heifer Show held in Athens in February or over Zoom. After interviews, a board of judges will select the junior board and assign leadership positions. The junior board will be announced at the State Commercial Dairy Heifer Show in Perry.
Those selected must write a short bio to share on social media, attend the GDYF training day and at least two additional GDYF events.
